Generally good but hindered by multiple issues with content and formatting. Several tables have their contents misaligned making them difficult to read and the opening section has several sections of text repeated (see photos). Not the quality I expected.It is otherwise a well-structured and useful introductory anaesthesia text. If they edit it properly then I would recommend purchasing.

This book is to the point and has just the stuff you need. It's easy to read and a great resource to read through. I have noticed that it doesn't talk about a number of things, such as EKG, but I understand that this is a concise reference and they aren't trying to cover EVERYTHING. Because it doesn't cover everything, it isn't my #1 quick handbook resource (pocket Barash), but it is very handy. The sections aren't always very intuitive either, so sometimes I flip around for a while trying to find details topics that for some reason aren't in the index.Overall, I would recommend it. It is a great resource for quick facts, but you will sometimes come across questions where this book doesn't have the answer.

Great book. Initially purchased this when I was in the middle of anesthesia school, but couldn't quite grasp everything it was trying to tell me. After studying for boards and being a little more independent this is a GREAT read for any anesthesia provider. I sometimes take into the OR with me just to brush up on areas I may not have as much contact with. Lots of amazing content.

I got this book for my Anesthesia rotation as an M4. I liked the question based format, it's kind of like being pimped in the OR. I'm sure it's a good resource for a resident, or a gunner that's AOA and going into Anesthesia, Urology, or whatever. But for the struggling student that's rotating for kicks and giggles testing the waters of Anesthesia, there's got to be a better resource than this.

Lots of good information that is easy to pick up and drop if need be. Great for in between time when you have a moment to try and catch up or learn something. Will not suffice to teach you everything. You need another book for that, but this is a great refresher.

I'm almost done with anesthesia residency and I STILL reference this book all the time. It has so much useful info and I think it works well at every level. Highly recommended

This book is the perfect size. Great in hand resource! Easy read, organized, and detailed at the same time!

I like the Q&A format of this book. It is concise but direct to the point, it reviews all important clinical questions you need to address at every stage of your career. The retired, 41-year-old female Marine of A Mature Student, compares her female professor's experiences in Communist-era Prague and her own son's service in Iraq. Deep Kiss movingly chronicles the fractious results when a teenaged boy, infatuated with a promiscuous classmate, neglects to bond with his dying father. A hilarious description of a brash, ignorant thug in Her Dog shows Wolff's gift for demotic speech. In an author's note, Wolff says that since he has never considered any of his stories sacred texts, he has edited some clumsy or superfluous passages in earlier works. In the Lower East Side tenements of Manhattan in the late 1800s, there is employment for the city's huge immigrant population--except it's mostly sweatshop labor for little pay. Fifteen-year-old Johnny Woods is desperate to find enough work to support his fatherless family. When he notices a sign in a bar window asking for young men to try their fighting skills, he investigates, hoping to win the five dollar prize. He is unluckily arrested during his first fight, but ironically his luck turns when he meets former lightweight champion Michael O'Shaunnessey in jail. O'Shaunnessey recognizes Johnny's raw talent and begins training him as a serious boxer.

Once out of the clink, Johnny is winning fights, working regularly in the posh uptown New York Athletic Club, and saving money for a new home for his family in Brooklyn. But then Johnny's winning concentration is shot with the return of his alcoholic father. Does he have the stamina to continue as the family breadwinner, confront his father, and still win in the ring? A Rocky for the late 19th century, The Boxer is a good solid story with plenty of heart. Author Kathleen Karr (The Great Turkey Walk) gives Johnny an engaging first person voice: "The mind was a muscle, like any other.... But how you exercised it diagramming sentences ... hadn't dawned on me yet." His troubles with money and family will ring true with contemporary teens, while the historical setting will delight teachers, who will surely want to recommend this book as supplemental reading when teaching about the urban industrial age. Grade 7 Up-Set in 1885, this atmospheric historical novel tells the story of 15-year-old Johnny Woods and his struggle to rescue his mother and five siblings from a life of miserable poverty on New York City's Lower East Side. Seeing no solution in the meager wages he earns in the sweatshops, Johnny turns to boxing. A natural born fighter with fierce determination and an explosive temper, he ends up incarcerated in New York City's infamous "Tombs" after an illegal public boxing bout. While there, Johnny meets a man named O'Shaunnessey, who trains him to become a professional boxer and takes on the role of his absentee father. Once paroled, O'Shaunnessey helps the teen build his career and eventually earn enough money to move his family to a better life in Brooklyn. At the novel's end, the protagonist contemplates leaving the violent sport behind and completing his education. Karr does an admirable job of creating a vivid sense of time and place. Besides all of the interesting details about boxing, there are plenty of desciptions of the economic and social conditions of the day. The ringside action is quite exciting. The characters are also well developed, particularly Johnny, who matures in the course of the story. A wonderful blend of fascinating history and compelling drama.
